We are making plans for the 2018 Confirmation Class and invite all youth in 7 – 8th grade (or at least 12 years of age) to join us on a spirit-filled journey centered around worship, learning, service, witness and fellowship. There will be loads of dialogue, laughter and fun, too! Weekly classes are held on Sundays at 9 a.m. from Sep to May, and will include a pilgrimage to The Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City.

Stop by this Sunday, September 10th at 9:15 a.m. in the Great Hall to learn more and register for the 2018 Confirmation Class.

Give us a call or drop a note with any questions.

Inquirer’s Class

In our liturgy for Holy Baptism, the concluding prayer for the baptized person includes this invitation to our journey of faith … “Give them an inquiring and discerning heart, the courage to will and persevere, a spirit to know and to love you and the gift of joy and wonder in all your works.” At our Confirmation, we accept the promises made for us by parents and godparents, and seek to live into this prayer as adults in the Episcopal Church.

For those adults of “inquiring and discerning hearts” at St. Thomas’s, I will offer What It Means To Be An “Episcopalian” – An Outline Of Our Christian Faith & Life. This course is open to anyone who desires to journey deeper in this commitment we live. It is required for those persons who desire to be confirmed or received into the Episcopal Church at the regional confirmation service, the Day of Pentecost: June 4 at 4:00 p.m., Christ Church Christiana Hundred.  The course booklet will be provided for reading prior to the class to maximize our time together

There will be two teaching sessions and they will be held at day and/or evening best for those interested found best for as many possible To determine our two meeting times, please contact Fr. Paul if you are interested by e-mail paulgennett@comcast.net, on or before April 22.

What is Confirmation?

The Sacrament of Confirmation is defined as a “mature public affirmation” of faith (Book of Common Prayer, p.412). For those baptized as infants or young children, it serves to confirm the vows that were made at the baptism. It’s a spiritual journey, packed with fun, prayer and exploration with the whole church community by your side. We are preparing for Youth Confirmation at St. Thomas’ and call those desiring to be confirmed to join us on Sunday, September 11 at 9:15 AM in the Great Hall for registration and a brief introduction. One must be baptized and at least 7th grade or 12 years of age. Contact Mrs.Teri Quinn Gray or Mr. Bob Rys for more information.

Blessings to you indeed!

posted in: Confirmation, News | 0

We’re finalizing plans for Confirmation with Bishop Wright’s visit on Sunday, April 17th, and still need a few more goodies for the coffee hour/reception. Given the special occasion, we expect a larger-than-normal crowd and want to make sure there’s a mighty feast. It would be great if you could provide your special dish or something similar to the following – Finger foods (hot & cold), Chips, Dips, Cheese, Fruit, Veggies, Salads, Cookies, Pastries.

Items should be dropped off at the church kitchen before 11 AM on Sunday, April 17th. Please let us know what you can give. Blessings!
