Pentecost multilingual reading

posted in: Pentecost | 0

Dear members of the St. T family,

We will be celebrating the Feast of Pentecost in two weeks on June 4. At both morning services we will have our traditional multilingual reading of the first lesson, Acts 2:1-21. This is a call for volunteers who can do this reading in place in any foreign language, real or imaginary (e.g., Klingon). Please let me know as soon as possible if you are able and willing to do such a reading and in what language(s) (please list all if you can do more than one). The texts are readily available in many languages at biblegateway.com. Thank you.

Pentecost Picnic to be held June 4

posted in: Pentecost | 0

Hello Church Family,

Please join me at our annual Pentecost Parish Picnic! The picnic will take place on June 4 after the 10:30 a.m. service. St. Thomas’s will provide hamburgers, veggie burgers and hot dogs a well as paper products and drinks. There will also be games and activities for all ages. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS to help set up, clean up and help facilitate games. We also NEED YOU to bring a side dish or dessert to complete our celebration meal. (Donations will also be accepted toward the cost of the entrees and paper products.)

Signup sheets to get an estimate of how many people are coming, who can help with setup and/or cleanup, and who is bringing what will be on the Great Hall door beginning on May 21. One more thing…you are welcome to bring chairs or picnic blankets for your comfort and enjoyment.

Thanks in advance for your help in creating another great fellowship opportunity for our St. Thomas’s family, especially during, this, our 175th year!! Please feel free to e-mail me at belmar43@aol.com or call me at 302-832-8834 with questions or to volunteer to help plan or facilitate the picnic.

Blessings,

Flash mob anthem this Sunday

posted in: Pentecost | 0

Hi everyone!

This Sunday, Pentecost, is also a day to celebrate the ministry of music at St. Thomas’s and particularly the adult choir. Soooo, the choir will perform a simple anthem — a round — then they will go amongst all of you in the congregation and we will perform the same anthem with all of you. That way you can have the full choir experience without leaving the comfort of your pew! (We will do this during the announcement period instead of at the gradual.)

Please help us celebrate this wonderful day!

Thanks, and Cheers.

Pentecost – need readers

posted in: Pentecost | 0

Dear Members of the St Thomas family,

Pentecost is nigh (May 15), so we must plan for the annual reading at both services of Acts 2 (the second reading) in many languages, as many as possible in fact. (In the past, we have had Latin, Spanish, Russian, German, French, Italian, Norwegian, and Tagalog.) If you can read aloud and pronounce fairly correctly any foreign language, living or dead or even fictive (e.g., Klingon), I invite you to participate or to suggest or ask someone who might be able to add her or his voice to the throng. Please just let me know at this email address (lgjd@udel.edu) or call me at 302- 453-0564.

Pax,
Larry Duggan
