As we continue to seek the “peace of God that passes all understanding” for all of God’s creation and created, we will join with our sisters and brothers of the many faith communities of Newark and share in making real Shalom … Saleem … Peace through Unity. We are invited to share in this occasion through our Interfaith Thanksgiving Service on Tuesday evening, November 22 at 7:30 p.m. Our worship and fellowship this year will be hosted by Head of Christiana Presbyterian Church, 1100 Church Road, Newark. I will be participating in this worship along with sisters and brothers from Christian, Unitarian, Ba’hai, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, Sikh, Jewish, and other faith traditions.
The gratitude offering this night will again be designated to the mission and ministry of the Newark Empowerment Center. If you wish to make your offering by check, please make it out DIRECTLY to Newark Empowerment Center. As in past years, we also encourage you to bring donations of nonperishable food items and/or personal care items for the “To Go” bags prepared for the homeless population.
May this be a way for you to enter this uniquely American holiday with a heart filled with gratefulness for ALL of God’s created in our world, seeking to make peace in all our lives by our many pathways we follow to the Holy One. I do hope to see and share in this worship time of unity and peace with many of you.
